To be honest, I’m a bit panicked. I’ve been staring at the charts all afternoon until my eyes ache. BTC has been stuck around 77,000 for almost two days, and the trading volume is shrinking further and further. The choice of direction is likely tonight or early tomorrow morning. ETH is holding up, though—just hovering around 2,460. Over in DeFi, the returning capital hasn’t stirred up much of a wave.
But what really made me unable to sit still is XAUT. At 4,377, it’s down 1.5% over the past 24 hours. It’s been drifting lower in a straight bearish line from the high of 4,456 all the way to 4,363, where it finally got bought back. My grid system bought a position around 4,380, and now I’m floating at a loss of a dozen-odd percent. Honestly, with volatility like this in a gold token, even 0.3% in a day is considered relatively big in normal times. But today it suddenly came with this move—I first thought, is the system broken?
Right now, the system signal leans more toward waiting and being bearish. Support on the 4-hour timeframe is around 4,350. If it breaks below that level, I’ll widen my grid spacing and reduce how often I place new orders. In times like this, the biggest taboo is getting itchy and adding positions randomly—I’ve been burned before.
If BTC breaks down, XAUT will most likely get dragged along too. After all, hedging logic and risk assets sometimes move in tandem. My position size is currently at 30%. The rest of my “ammo” will wait for clearer direction.
