An American federal court ruled that a decision by President Donald Trump’s administration to include the artificial intelligence company “Anthropic” in the National Security Supply Chain Risk list was unlawful, in a ruling that represents a win for the company developing the “Claude” model, as well as for technology companies that deal with the US government.
Judge Rita Lin, of the US District Court for the Northern District of California, overturned government directives that had barred federal agencies from permanently using “Anthropic” products, and also prohibited contractors with the US Department of Defense from dealing with the company—even for business not related to the military sector.
