The first to seriously work on crypto-backed lending wasn’t a crypto exchange—it was a bank.

This sounds like a joke, yet it’s still Sberbank over in Russia. They just open their mouth and talk about a yearly $40 trillion rubles transaction volume, and even plan to use $USDT and $ETH as collateral for loans.

In the past, I loved making fun of news like this—I figured that people in suits and ties coming in would just keep shouting about risk control.

Turns out the risk control didn’t even leave. Stablecoins already walked in and entered the house.

The most unbelievable part is that my $USDT is usually only for hedging and waiting for opportunities, while they’re already studying how to borrow money using it.

Retail investors are still debating whether to buy, but the banks have already started thinking about what to pledge.😅

So is it that traditional finance is too slow, or is it that we’re too much like tourists ourselves?
