According to Jin10, The Wall Street Journal reported that SB Energy, backed by SoftBank, offered OpenAI a large incentive before its planned IPO to win OpenAI as a data center tenant. In draft IPO filings, OpenAI received warrants from SB Energy worth about $5.5 billion, and OpenAI had previously invested in the company. SB Energy is expected to file its IPO documents publicly as soon as this week and could go public as soon as next month, targeting to raise $5 billion to $7 billion. Its current data center customer base consists of companies that are also investors, and the filings show SoftBank and OpenAI plan to be tenants at three SB Energy data centers. A fourth data center in Scurry County, Texas, has an installed capacity of 900 megawatts and has not yet identified customers.
