Sideways, Sideways, Sideways — Crypto’s Just Digging In After the August Rally
The crypto market’s chilling out a bit after a strong August. Total value is sitting around $2.63–2.66 trillion and edged up slightly today.
Bitcoin is hovering near $78k–$78.8k, up a little on the day. It still makes up about 60% of the market. It did touch the low $81k area not long ago.
Ethereum’s around $2,450–$2,460. Solana’s been one of the stronger ones, sitting near $105–$106. XRP is roughly $1.40.
Sentiment is still in “greed” territory (Fear & Greed around 69–76), but it’s cooled off from the extreme levels we saw earlier.
August was pretty solid — Bitcoin was up around 25% at its best point, helped by heavy ETF buying and shorts getting squeezed. Things pulled back after some hawkish talk from the Fed and a stretch of ETF outflows.
Right now it feels like the market’s just digesting the gains. As long as Bitcoin stays above the mid-to-high $77k area it looks okay. $80k–$81k is the next real hurdle people are watching.
