🔥A one-page agreement: Trump took the “century-long lease” for 17 oilfields in Venezuela—USDT’s biggest use case in Latin America is collapsing

Trump and Venezuela reached the “largest oil deal in history”: taking control of 17 oilfields, 65 billion barrels in reserves, with a 100-year term. The Venezuelan side confirmed that the agreement will bring over $100 billion in investment and more than $209 billion in tax revenue 💵. For the crypto market, this is far more than just a geopolitical headline.

First, USDT’s “oil-settlement throne” in Latin America is tilting. Over the past two years, due to U.S. sanctions, about 80% of Venezuela’s oil sales were forced to be settled in USDT. Now the U.S. has directly taken control of one-fifth of the reserves. Once sanctions are lifted, the demand for USDT oil—amounting to potentially tens of billions of dollars per year—could disappear almost overnight.

Second, the oil coin PTR is headed to zero. In 2018, Venezuela launched the world’s first sovereign crypto, PTR, pegged to one barrel of crude oil. In essence, it was created to sidestep sanctions. Now the U.S. has become a “shareholder” in Venezuela’s oil—making the core logic behind PTR collapse instantly.

Third, Bitcoin’s “safe-haven” narrative faces short-term pressure. Venezuela’s oil returns to the market → energy supply improves → inflation cools—this is a macro tailwind for risk assets. But as the geopolitical conflict premium fades, Bitcoin’s safe-haven rationale as “digital gold” is hit in the short term.

❗️Two risks must be clearly understood: The legality of the deal is questionable. Venezuela’s constitution stipulates that the country retains control over the oil industry—does the acting president have the authority to transfer 100-year drilling rights? Second, Venezuela produces only just over 1 million barrels per day. From the agreement to actual oil output, it’s years away—along with hundreds of billions in investment.

When the “oil for USDT” narrative starts to fall apart, how much of that “forced demand” created by sanctions is actually real? The market is already pricing it in—so it depends on which side you’re on 💛.#特朗普达成委内瑞拉17油田开发协议 #委内瑞拉美国签25年石油合作协议 $CL
