I still laugh when I remember one of my earliest trades on Binance because I somehow managed to turn a completely normal trade into a full emotional drama. 😭
I saw a coin moving fast, checked the chart for maybe two minutes, and convinced myself I had discovered the opportunity before everyone else.
No proper research. No real plan.
Just one very confident thought:
“If I don’t enter now, I’ll miss it.”
So I bought.
For the first few minutes, the price actually went up.
That was the worst thing that could have happened to a beginner like me because suddenly I thought I was a genius. 😂
I started calculating imaginary profits before I had even closed the trade.
Then came one red candle.
Then another.
Suddenly I wasn’t calculating profits anymore, I was refreshing the chart every few seconds like staring harder at it might somehow make the candles turn green again.
At one point I even closed Binance, told myself I wasn’t going to check anymore…and opened it again about thirty seconds later. 😭
Eventually I exited with a small loss.
At the time, I was annoyed.
Looking back, though, that trade was probably worth more than a small profit would have been.
It taught me what FOMO actually feels like from the inside.
Not as a definition in an article.
As that little voice saying:
“Everyone else is getting in.”
“You’re already late.”
“Just enter now and figure everything else out later.”
Since then, I try to ask myself one question before pressing Buy,
If this chart wasn’t moving fast right now, would I still want this trade?
If the answer is no, sometimes the smartest trade for me is simply doing nothing.
I’ve had better trades since then, but few have taught me as much or made me laugh as much afterward.
Crypto gave me the trade.
My impatience provided the comedy. 😂💛
