CME Group plans to launch futures contracts on October 5 based on the hourly rental costs of Nvidia H100 and B200 graphics processors, pending regulatory approval. According to Sina Finance, the contracts will be cash-settled against a benchmark index compiled by Silicon Data, which tracks what companies actually spend to rent the chips.
Silicon Data's H100 benchmark is about $2.68 per GPU hour, while its newer B200 benchmark is about $5.66. According to Sina Finance, both benchmarks have shown significant volatility over the past year and have not moved entirely in sync.
