CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost said Bitcoin's rise to $80,000 has pushed short-term holders' average unrealized profit margin to nearly 15%. According to ChainCatcher, the estimated cost basis is about $70,100, and profitability has reached its highest level since July 2025.
This range is often associated with stronger profit-taking and more unstable holding behavior among short-term holders, which could lead some investors to lock in gains. Darkfost said Bitcoin's temporary pause near $80,000 is therefore not surprising.
