#AntiQuantumBitcoinTransactionMinedOnMainnet
🚨 Bitcoin takes a step toward quantum resilience! 🛡️
On the Bitcoin mainnet, a quantum-resistant transaction was demonstrated for the first time. This was done by a StarkWare researcher, using an approach that can protect specific $BTC from potential quantum attacks without changing Bitcoin’s consensus rules.
But there’s an important nuance: Bitcoin is not yet fully quantum-resistant. This is a technological demonstration, not an activated network-wide upgrade. For full protection, protocol-level changes are needed.
One of the proposed directions is BIP-360 (P2MR). It introduces a new type of output that removes the vulnerable key-path in Taproot and is intended to protect against so-called long-exposure quantum attacks. However, BIP-360 is still a soft-fork proposal rather than an activated $BTC update.
💡 So we don’t have “Bitcoin has already been protected from quantum computers”—we have something much more interesting: practical work has begun on how to make the network more resilient to a future quantum threat.
What about the price? 📈
I wouldn’t expect an automatic pump just because of this news. For the market, it matters more whether these technological experiments will turn into real protocol changes and a scalable solution.
