Cursor CEO Michael Truell revealed that OpenAI models accounted for only 5% of the total traffic generated by platform users, one day after OpenAI terminated its model supply contract. The decision follows the all-stock acquisition of Anysphere, the parent company of Cursor, by SpaceX for $60 billion. The deal, finalized on August 14, led OpenAI to cite compliance issues related to Elon Musk.

Cursor already supports Anthropic, Google, and xAI models, meaning 95% of the traffic is handled by providers other than OpenAI. OpenAI set November 12 as the effective termination date for the contract and prohibited Cursor from accessing its next model, Astra.
