On Alpha’s trading volume leaderboard, DOS was singled out as one of the “only remaining four-times tokens,” with just 11 days left until the limit order campaign ends. On the same day, though, people posted screenshots of being trapped for trying to fake volume; others said weekend traps are set and things will take off; and some even directly called it an air coin.

My take: this wave of DOS hype is very likely driven by a volume-trading contest’s incentive-driven fake-volume battle, not by the discovery of any new story. There are three pieces of evidence: first, Alpha Daily categorized it as a pure trading-volume recommendation; second, users have posted complaints in succession about getting burned by fake orders; third, someone openly said, “Just wait on an air coin with a small position and play around.”

If there really is fundamental good news, then I’m wrong. But what’s more worth asking is: when the trading contest stops, how much real buying demand will DOS still have left?
