WINKLINK Oracle: Application of Parameterized Insurance for Deep-Sea Net-Cage Aquaculture and Its Role in Blue Finance on the TRON Chain
Deep-sea net-cage aquaculture is an important pillar for safeguarding global protein supply and advancing the “blue economy.” However, deep-sea farming facilities have long been exposed to complex natural marine conditions, making them highly vulnerable to disasters such as red tides (harmful algal blooms), sudden drops in dissolved oxygen levels, abnormal water temperature fluctuations, and massive waves triggered by intense tropical cyclones. Traditional aquaculture insurance models often lack transparent data records, so in the post-disaster damage assessment phase, they heavily rely on manual on-site inspections. As a result, claim settlement cycles typically last several months. This lagging claims experience not only makes it easy for aquaculture enterprises to fall into operational difficulties due to broken cash flows, but also leads insurers to set very high underwriting thresholds to avoid fraudulent claims—leaving the vast majority of marine aquaculture projects without available insurance.
