$GLWB is being reconsidered. The core is not that its traditional display glass business suddenly turned around, but that optical communication demand has given the company a new growth foothold. As AI data center footprints expand, connections between racks and across clusters need to be faster and with lower loss, increasing the importance of fiber optics and related components. For Corning, this means investors may need to reassess its business mix rather than pricing it only based on the consumer electronics and panel cycle. However, the ultimate “benefit from AI” still has to show up in orders, capacity utilization, and profit margins: if demand growth comes alongside rising expansion costs, revenue improvement may not translate into profit on a one-for-one basis. The real turnaround signals are optical communication business that continues to grow, while other segments no longer weigh on cash flow. Customer concentration and the timing of new capacity ramp-up also cannot be overlooked. Do you think data-center optical connectivity is enough to change Corning’s valuation framework, or will it only offset fluctuations in its traditional business?
