But the news behind the meme is serious.
With the Algorand v5.0.0 update, the network started offering native post-quantum accounts protected by Falcon-1024 signatures, integrated directly into the protocol.

๐Ÿ”ฅ In practice, these accounts can hold the crypto $ALGO e and other assets, send transactions, and interact with applications like a regular accountโ€”but they use a cryptographic signature designed to withstand future attacks from quantum computers.

Falcon technology was selected by NIST during the post-quantum cryptography standardization process. Algorand had already been testing this protection: in 2025, it carried out quantum-resistant transactions on the mainnetโ€”and now it took the next step by making PQ accounts a native part of the network.

The new structure is already supported by tools such as:

And the Foundationโ€™s goal is to move toward broader quantum resilience by the end of 2027, including post-quantum multisig and other protocol layers.
