Honda Motor and Nissan Motor are expected to reach an agreement as soon as possible on Monday, under which they will develop a joint operating system and an integrated computer for new cars starting in 2029, according to the Japanese Nikkei newspaper on Saturday.

Honda said that no final agreement has yet been reached, noting that the Japanese company is holding discussions about “potential areas for cooperation” with Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors. Nissan CEO Ivan Espinosa had earlier this month said that the company is exploring potential areas for cooperation in software with Honda.

The development comes more than a year after talks on a merger between Nissan and Honda collapsed, talks that would have led to the creation of a $60,000,000,000 car company.
