The Jackson Hole Message: In his much-anticipated speech at the Jackson Hole Symposium, Federal Reserve President Kevin Warsh delivered a firm reading on the state of the U.S. economy. Warsh emphasized that core inflation is not showing enough signs of converging toward the 2% annual target and reaffirmed that the committee’s stance will remain restrictive for as long as necessary. This strengthened the dollar in the short term and weighed on the metal.
