The discussions focus on up to 17 oil fields distributed across Venezuela’s main basins, as part of Washington’s relentless efforts to strengthen its influence over the country’s energy infrastructure.
Under one of the frameworks being studied, the United States could receive a 100-year lease covering assets in the Junin area along the Orinoco Belt, as well as the surrounding traditional fields near Lake Maracaibo.
