Brazil created 58,568 net official jobs in July, according to data published by the Ministry of Labor on Friday. The figure was significantly below economists’ forecast, who expected 112,000 new vacancies.
The ministry reported that during the month 2,262,888 jobs were created, while 2,204,320 positions were closed.
July marked the month with the lowest job creation pace for all of 2026. In addition, the worst July figure ever was recorded for the entire period of national statistics collection, which has been ongoing since 2020.
From January to July, Brazil created a total of 972,203 official jobs. This is about 21% less compared with the same period last year.
