A Federal Reserve official, Walsch, just delivered a speech at the Jackson Hole conference, and the crypto market reacted with a short-term dip.
Fifteen minutes after the speech was released, $BTC was down about 0.89%, trading at 78,620 USDT; $ETH was down about 1.3%, trading at 2,477 USDT. Overall, the adjustment has been limited.
In the speech, Walsch touched on several key points:
1️⃣ The pace of AI development is far exceeding expectations. Currently, two leading AI labs’ annualized token sales have already surpassed $100 billion, representing a year-on-year growth rate of over 500%. The Federal Reserve has established a dedicated task force to study AI’s impact on productivity, employment, and the distribution of benefits.
2️⃣ He questioned the “forward guidance” on monetary policy, arguing that excessively sharing policy details may instead mislead the market and limit a central bank’s decision-making autonomy, while also reaffirming that the 2% inflation target remains fixed and unchanged.
3️⃣ The U.S. economy is currently strong overall. Corporate capital expenditure growth is at its highest level since 2021. More than half of the incremental spending comes from AI-related construction, but the PCE price index is still above the 2% target, so policy focus needs to continue centering on inflation.
So far, the market has only reacted mildly; going forward, more Fed officials’ remarks will need to be watched.
