The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has given the green light to the registration of Evernorth, a new cryptocurrency treasury company backed by giants such as Ripple, Arrington Capital, and SBI. It plans to list on Nasdaq under the symbol XRPN after merging with the acquisition company Armada Acquisition Corp. II. With a shareholder vote scheduled for September 30 next and a deal close expected in October, the company plans not only to keep XRP on a public balance sheet following the popular model pioneered by Bitcoin, but also to invest in the ecosystem’s infrastructure and actively manage its holdings to increase the amount of XRP that backs each share over time.

From a market perspective, this move comes at a time of strong momentum for the token, which is trading near $1.41 after accumulating a gain of more than 27% over the week.

However, analysts warn about the inherent risks of this business model: treasury companies often trade at premiums or discounts relative to the actual value of their reserves, and prior examples from the Bitcoin sector show that operating below the token’s value sharply limits the ability to raise new funds through issuing shares.

Do you think these types of institutional financial vehicles will succeed in establishing XRP in public markets, or will they bring unnecessary volatility?
