$TRUMP The yen’s weakness returns to the spotlight as Oyida heads to $XAU
G20 group meeting

Japanese yen weakness is back in the focus of markets as next week’s meeting of the G20 finance ministers in the U.S. city of Asheville approaches, amid expectations for any new moves from Tokyo and Washington—especially with the dollar against the yen rising again toward the 160-yen level.

Japan’s finance minister Satsuki Katayama will participate in the meeting, and it is also expected that Bank of Japan governor Kazuo Oyida will attend, although the Bank of Japan has not officially confirmed his participation. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said he looks forward to meeting Oyida in Asheville, which increases the importance of the meeting for currency markets.

Investors are particularly watching the possibility of a bilateral meeting between Katayama and Bessent, following their coordinated intervention last month to support the yen#.com #TaiwanTAIEXRetakes46500OnChipRally #NvidiaTrades$33.5BInFirst140Minutes #.com #. .
