Bitcoin recently pushed above $80K and reached roughly $81.2K, its highest level since May. The move has been unusually strong: BTC gained around 28% in August, while the rally was supported by a weaker dollar, Treasury buyback expectations, ETF demand and a major short squeeze.
📊 The current BTC setup
$80K–$82K = major resistance
This is the first area where I would expect meaningful profit-taking. BTC already rejected from around $81.2K, and the market has subsequently been consolidating around $79K.
If BTC keeps failing to establish daily closes above $81K–$82K, momentum traders could start taking profits.
🔻 Why $74K–$75K makes sense
A move from $80K to $75K would be roughly a 6.25% correction.
That’s actually quite normal after a ~20–30% impulsive move.
The important thing is how BTC reaches $75K:
* Healthy correction: $80K → $77K → $75K → buyers step in → reclaim $78K–$80K
* Bearish breakdown: $80K → $75K → $72K → $70K, with support repeatedly failing
