TAO/USDT$TAO

$TAO is also known as the “BTC of the AI space.” Its tokenomics are broadly similar to Bitcoin’s: a hard cap of 21 million and a halving mechanism.

But $TAO is more flexible in its details.

Bitcoin’s halving time is strictly fixed in block height, whereas TAO’s halving time is uncertain.

On the Bittensor network, miners or validators who want to register in a Bittensor subnet must deposit a certain amount of TAO as collateral.

The TAO deposited here will be “reclaimed” by the system and reallocated back into the total amount of tokens that have not yet been minted.

This means that the reclaimed tokens are effectively “delaying” the production time of the corresponding blocks, so the first halving time for TAO may be pushed back or pulled forward depending on network activity.

The more active Bittensor is, the more the halving time may slow down; if it is inactive, the halving proceeds normally.

This reclamation mechanism can effectively reduce the actual inflation rate, pushing halving events further back and thereby creating a more sustainable token economic model.

When the network is extremely thriving, it automatically slows the pace of token release to prevent tokens from spreading too quickly; when the network is sluggish, it can still ensure a baseline production schedule.
