This is not the words of a science-fiction writer.
Musk believes that when AI + robots become strong enough, humans may no longer need to work to survive. Work will become a choice, like playing sports or playing games.
Sounds like a utopia.
But look at the other side.
🌍 The world’s population is still growing.
🤖 Machines can do more and more.
💼 But the number of jobs humans genuinely need to do may decrease.
If one day AI can do 80–90% of the work more effectively than humans...
How will billions of people make a living?
Musk offers an answer: “Universal High Income” — a form of universal income high enough for humans to still benefit from the economy created by AI and robots.
But here is the part that makes me think:
If machines create most of the wealth, who will own the machines?
And who will decide how that wealth is distributed?
Maybe the AI revolution isn’t really a battle between humans and robots.
It will be a battle over ownership, income, and the place of humans in the new economy.
And what’s most frightening?
👉 The future problem may not be “Will AI take your job?”
But rather:
“If AI takes your job, does society still need you to create value?”
