Sun Yuchen responds to “My Girlfriend Jing Tian”: took more than ten hours to write, and the article contains fictional elements

Brothers, Sun Ge’s latest response is here!

On August 28, Sun Yuchen, during an interview, addressed some controversy over parts of the long piece he wrote.

Sun Yuchen: I think the vast majority of it is a truthful statement that aligns with my own wishes. In the article, I wrote that it’s fictional, because I can’t guarantee that every single detail is 100%, but at least the way I think about things and how I express myself—that is 100% confirmed. That includes some of my inner conflicts too. Actually, I’m not embellishing this by saying it must be right or wrong.

As for why the lawsuit still focuses on getting the bride price back: “First, it’s the lawyer’s advice. Second, it also feels kind of ironic. That may be the only connection between the two of us—besides this matter, there’s no other connection. Just thinking about this issue really exhausts me a lot.”

About whether he is shaping a new “persona”:

Sun Yuchen: My friend also sent me a message saying they feel like they’ve gotten to know a new me. Because, honestly, in my usual life I’ve never written any little essays. To be frank, I haven’t written any articles either. In the past, I studied at Peking University after relying on the New Concept Essay Competition and such, then I started a business. I never wrote any articles. Maybe I didn’t have much to write about. But this time, I wrote out my own thoughts.

The long piece—about 6,000 Chinese characters—was something he spent more than ten hours writing over the past few days, “with almost no sleep for two nights.” At the time, he was in Bhutan, with a time difference. During the day, he also had to handle company matters; only when it was late at night with no one looking for him could he write.

As for Claude taking full responsibility: he said that because he usually trusts Claude a lot, he asks Claude about many things—“not only life, but also the company and all kinds of matters.” “These days, I usually do listen to Claude. Whatever Claude says, I listen. That’s how it is. But this time, when I wrote this article, how should I put it… it was also the first time. I really don’t know whether what Claude said is right or wrong. I’m honestly pretty confused. I just don’t know how to describe that feeling. I think there was no withholding; what I feel is expressed in the article I wrote myself.”
