If the smaller timeframe continues, and you don’t know how to confirm the range of the consolidation, you can temporarily mark a range:
Draw a horizontal line at the high point. Areas near that horizontal line are the consolidation highs. Unless there is a strong trend, price is mainly expected to range within the box. You can watch around the horizontal line, or after a fake-break structure, you can take a swing short!
If it’s below the consolidation range, you can draw a trend line based on the current smaller timeframe low, forming a trend channel with the upper area—such as a parallel channel or a wedge channel!
