What Has Changed in the TAC Contract Protection Mechanism
Due to discrepancies in spot price quotes among multiple exchanges, Binance enabled LPP for the USDT perpetual contract tied to $TAC at 19:00 Beijing time on August 27. As of 10:49 on August 28, the official API still shows the funding rate cap at +0.005% and the floor at -0.005%, with settlement every 4 hours. These are the upper and lower limits—not the actual funding rate for the current period.
Open positions users should pay attention to the mark price algorithm: when trading volume is sufficient, it uses the average contract transaction price over the most recent 10 seconds, updated every second, with the mark price change limited to ±1% per second. If trading volume is insufficient, it follows other sampling methods stated in the announcement. This 1% constraint on mark price changes does not mean TAC’s maximum intraday gains or losses are limited to 1%, nor does it guarantee the stop-loss execution price.
The mark price affects unrealized P&L and liquidation decisions. When Binance restores the standard algorithm, it will issue a separate announcement. Now you can open the TACUSDT position page, compare the mark price with the latest price, and then recheck the stop-loss trigger source and the next funding time. Even with a narrowed funding-rate cap, it cannot eliminate risks from high volatility, leverage, and slippage.
When checking positions, do you tend to watch the mark price or the latest price?
