Nvidia's blockbuster earnings and strong results from Salesforce lifted technology shares on Thursday, while broader market moves were muted as investors awaited a key speech by U.S. Federal Reserve chairman Kevin Warsh, according to RTHK.

Nvidia, the world's biggest company by market value, said second-quarter revenue more than doubled from a year earlier to US$96 billion, beating analyst forecasts and sending its shares up nearly 9 percent. The Nasdaq rose 1.6 percent to 26,541, while the S&P 500 gained 0.7 percent to 7,731 and the Dow added 0.2 percent to 53,569. Salesforce jumped more than 22 percent after reporting better-than-expected results and citing strong demand for AI and data products. Pernod Ricard fell 4.4 percent after annual profit dropped 26 percent on weaker sales in the United States and China.
