I don’t really love gossip, but judging from what happened between Sun Ge and Jing Tian, the direction of public opinion has truly changed. In China, mainstream media platforms are all making this a hot headline, and the discussion is still intensifying.
Who is Sun Ge? He’s a crypto-world big shot, a gray-industry boss who’s been put under some kind of control. In the past, this kind of gossip simply couldn’t have blown up on China’s mainstream media platforms. The profile of people who like to “eat瓜” is basically concentrated in the 13-to-40 age range. When most of them see this kind of content, their first reaction is: Who is Sun Yuchen? What is he doing that allows him to make over $10 billion? Once they learn that Sun Yuchen got rich quickly through the crypto space, it will inevitably lead some of these gossip-lovers to either learn more about it or even enter the crypto world. Clearly, this is going in the opposite direction from the previous crackdown policies.
And it doesn’t stop there. Recently, I noticed that on Douyin, content related to crypto was basically impossible to post before. Or if it somehow got posted by luck, it would only get a tiny number of plays and likes. But now, the exposure volume of crypto-related content has increased by orders of magnitude—sometimes I’m even getting videos with thousands or even tens of thousands of likes.
Such changes must mean something is happening that we don’t know about.
Or maybe on 10.11, they’ve already cut off most of the existing liquidity in the circle, and now they need fresh blood?
