Large investors’ trades in the cryptocurrency and financial markets have attracted attention. According to on-chain data and information from market monitoring platforms, three independent whale investors recently took positions worth millions of dollars in ETH, SOL, HYPE, and CXMT.
## The first whale: big profits from Ethereum, then a shift to Solana
- The first whale made its first big profits after opening a massive long position in Ethereum in the early stages of the current upswing in the crypto market.
- This investor opened a position of 20,000 Ethereum when the price was only about $1,936.
- The position size later grew to around $50 million, and the whale’s unrealized profit exceeded $11 million.
- This investor, tracked by the Lookonchain platform and associated with the address "0xedcd", then moved on to Solana (SOL).
- The investor opened a new long position of 100,000 SOL just about half an hour ago, using high leverage of 20x.
- The entry price was around $104.5, and the total position size reached $10.45 million.
- As a result, this whale—along with its $50 million position in Ethereum—has opened a new trade on Solana based on highly risky bullish expectations thanks to substantial leverage.
## The second whale: aggressive purchases of the HYPE token
- The second whale drew attention with its strong purchases of the native Hyperliquid token (HYPE).
- Some speculation suggests this whale or organization may be connected to a16z, but this claim has not been confirmed decisively yet.
- Earlier, this whale had bought $24 million worth of HYPE in June, when its price was then around $68.7.
- Over the last 24 hours, a total of 36 million USDC was deposited on the Hyperliquid platform from 12 different addresses believed to be linked to this investor.
- About $24 million of this money has been used so far to buy the HYPE token, with a total of 282,090 units purchased at an average buy price of about $81.5.
- The total amount of HYPE it has bought and staked so far is about 4.67 million units, valued at an estimated current worth of around $381 million.
- The average cost of the overall position was about $65.6, while the whale’s unrealized profit was about $74.4 million.
