Odaily Planet Daily reports that Bitcoin News stated in a post on X that this month France disclosed that its tax administration department was hacked, and data related to approximately 678,000 individuals and enterprises was stolen. The stolen data reportedly includes names, addresses, income, and property information. Analysis of the alleged database found that among the records, 26,805 entries show income exceeding 100,000 euros, including 386 entries exceeding 1 million euros. According to CertiK data, among 52 verified cryptocurrency wallet attacks worldwide in the first half of 2026, France accounted for 33. French prosecutors also accused a tax department employee of using government databases to identify cryptocurrency investors and selling personal information to criminal groups involved in harassment and extortion. The latest data breach has not yet been publicly linked to any harassment incidents, but the sensitive financial and location data of hundreds of thousands of people may no longer be under government control.
