Revenues reached $7.3 billion

- Citadel Securities posted record trading revenues of $7.30 billion in the second quarter, benefiting from a wave of sharp market volatility that pushed its revenues to more than triple their level compared with the same period last year, according to a report published by Bloomberg. Net income for the market maker surged by more than 250% to reach $3.30 billion, supported by a notable expansion in high-touch equity trading, placing this non-bank firm in direct competition with major players on Wall Street, including The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. and JPMorgan Chase & Co.

Handling large equity trades for hedge funds, asset managers, and pension funds was a key driver of growth, complementing the firm’s core quantitative matching technology. In the next phase, Citadel Securities continues to expand its fixed-income activities, moving beyond interest-rate swaps and Treasury bonds to offer services to institutional investors in corporate debt trading, starting with investment-grade bonds.
