Actually, living a good life isn’t as difficult as you might imagine.
1. House cleaning. Hire a maid/cleaner. I have a half-day maid, about 7–8k yuan per month. It includes holiday overtime pay. About 9–10 times per year.
2. Meals/food ingredients. 10k yuan per month. The maid prepares it. 12 times per year.
3. Sending the kids to school doesn’t really involve much expense. Rural schools.
4. Keeping a car: 30–40k yuan per year, but I don’t drive much.
5. Travel—depends on circumstances.
6. Impulse spending: 30–50k per year.
7. Property management utilities (water, electricity, gas): about 6k per year.
In other words, with a monthly income of 30k, and a home with no mortgage, you can live very well.
