$ETH has begun pricing Q4’s Glamsterdam upgrade, but whether scaling can be converted into long-term value capture remains unverified.

The official roadmap shows that the upgrade proposal will separate proposers and builders into the protocol, and use block-level access lists to pave the way for parallel processing; the base gas for simple ETH transfers could also drop by up to 71%. Capacity and access thresholds are expected to improve, but lower per-unit fees may also weaken burning per transaction—only if new usage is sufficient to offset that can ETH value capture improve.

For now, it’s observation only. Next, wait for the exact mainnet timing and the core EIP freeze; if, during the two 30-day post-launch review periods, active usage, settlement volume, and base fee burn do not all exceed the pre-upgrade 90-day medians at the same time, then the premise that scaling is beneficial would be considered unproven.
