NVIDIA’s revenue beats expectations, shares rise 4%: the AI rally is reignited again
NVIDIA’s latest earnings report clearly surpassed market expectations, becoming an important catalyst for today’s U.S. tech stocks. Revenue in the company’s second fiscal quarter reached $96.2 billion, up 106% year over year, beating the market estimate of about $92.3 billion. Revenue from the data center segment reached $89.0 billion, up 117% year over year.
The key positives are threefold:
AI chip demand remains strong
The data center business continues to deliver triple-digit growth, indicating that large cloud providers, AI labs, and enterprises’ investment in AI computing power has not cooled off noticeably. Growth outlook further upgraded
NVIDIA expects revenue of about $108 billion in the next quarter, and management also expects that revenue will still grow by roughly 70% in fiscal 2028—significantly higher than the market’s prior expectation of about 45%. The AI industry chain regains investor attention
After the earnings release, NVIDIA rose about 4% in after-hours trading, then the pre-market gain briefly expanded to around 7%, lifting related stocks such as AI chips, servers, and storage.
Impact on the market
The biggest significance of this earnings report is not simply “revenue beating expectations,” but rather again confirming that the AI capital expenditure cycle has not ended.
In the short term, the positives are:
NVIDIA → SK Hynix/Samsung → TSMC → AI servers → optical modules → data center power/thermal management
Particularly worth watching are the Korean memory chip stocks that the market had been worried about earlier. After NVIDIA’s performance re-confirmed demand for AI servers, the logic for HBM memory demand has been strengthened.
However, risks should also be considered: NVIDIA is currently facing supply-chain and memory cost pressures. The company’s gross margin is expected to be further pressured from the current level of about 75% to around 72%—73%.
