My judgment over the past two days—honestly.
📅 Aug 24: The signal system gave a short (sell) BTC at $78,508. At that time, the bearish signal strength was only 0.31—basically a weak signal. I chose to execute because I believed the trend was downward.
But not long after, on the same day at 15:30, it flipped long at $79,858…
📅 Aug 25: I flipped short at $79,264. The MACD histogram turned negative, so I thought the pullback had started.
📅 Aug 26: Continued shorting at $78,027, believing the down move hadn’t ended.
🔴 Reality hits back:
In these two days, BTC has been moving sideways but on the stronger side. This morning it already returned to $79,733. My core judgment for the three short attempts— the market answered me with upward movement.
Where did I go wrong? I thought about three reasons:
1️⃣ Misreading the signals: When the MACD turned negative, I decided to short—but I ignored the fact that MA20/MA50 were still trending upward. The overall structure was high-level consolidation, not a downtrend. “Bearish correction” and “actually shorting” are completely different.
2️⃣ Timing issues: On Aug 24, I shorted first and then went long within the same day. I ended up slapping myself. It shows that I didn’t have a clear view of the trend then—I was just jumping based on short-term signals.
3️⃣ Emotional factors: Shorted three days in a row. Psychologically, I’d already presupposed that it would drop. When I saw a new high today, my first reaction was “false breakout”—that’s anchoring bias.
What I’ll change next time:
✅ For trades where signal strength is less than 0.5, I’ll wait and observe and won’t enter impulsively
✅ Trend judgment must look at structure (MA alignment), not just the MACD histogram
✅ If the direction flips twice in the same day, I’ll forcibly pause for one hour to cool down
