Canadian sentiment toward the United States has worsened after trade talks between Canada and the U.S. broke down, reviving calls to boycott American goods. According to ChainCatcher, the U.S. imposed a 50% tariff on $20 billion of Canadian goods, and Canada said it will impose equivalent retaliatory tariffs on U.S. imports starting September 8.

A survey found that 52% of Canadians may not buy American cars, 60% said they would not buy American alcohol, and more than 70% said they would avoid American eggs and dairy products.
