The Proton Blockchain Development Fund continues to evolve to support the growth and development of innovative projects within the Proton ecosystem. The new and improved Proton Grants Program is designed to foster collaboration, drive innovation, and provide financial support to individuals, teams, and companies building on the Proton Blockchain.
The Community Warchest has allocated significant resources to the Proton Grant Program, setting aside 2 billion XPR worth over $3 million. This significant investment underscores the Proton community’s commitment to supporting and accelerating the development of innovative projects on the Proton blockchain.
By providing ample funding, the program aims to attract a wide range of talent, from individual developers to established companies, who can all contribute to the growth and diversity of the ecosystem. As a result, Proton Blockchain will continue to thrive and expand, further establishing itself as a leading platform for cutting-edge solutions in the blockchain industry.
In this blog post, we will discuss the new and improved grant program, guidelines, application process, and how it will accelerate the growth of the Proton ecosystem.
New Proton Subsidy Scheme: Key Points
The Proton Grants Program is funded by the Community Warchest and is funded by the Proton Development Fund. The program has been revamped to streamline the application process, increase transparency, and encourage participation. The grant program is structured so that individuals, small teams, and companies can apply for funding, with priority given to open source projects. In addition, there are Recognition Grants that can be awarded to projects that have already made a significant impact on the ecosystem, at the discretion of the Proton Alliance.
The Proton Blockchain Alliance is a collective of professionals, organizations, and core developers dedicated to leading the growth and development of the Proton ecosystem. As the driving force behind the Proton Blockchain Grant Program, the Alliance is responsible for evaluating grant applications, approving projects that meet the criteria, and monitoring the progress of funded projects.
Who can apply and how much?
The Proton Grants Program welcomes a wide variety of applicants, including individuals, small teams, and companies, to apply for funding to support their projects on the Proton blockchain.
The amount of funding depends on the applicant and whether the project is open source. Individual applicants can receive up to $5,000 for non-open source projects and up to $10,000 for open source projects. Small teams can receive up to $25,000 for non-open source projects and up to $50,000 for open source projects. Companies can receive up to $100,000 for non-open source projects and up to $200,000 for open source projects. This inclusive approach encourages a variety of participants to contribute to the growth and innovation of the Proton blockchain ecosystem, ultimately forming a thriving and diverse blockchain community.
Funding Guide
The grant program accepts applicants of all types, from individuals to companies, and the grant amounts vary depending on the applicant and the type of project. Minimum requirements for all applicants include having a KYC-verified Proton account, proof of experience, and a running project or an experienced team.
application process
The application process is very simple and involves forking the Proton Blockchain Grant Framework repo, cloning the application template, filling in the project details, and creating a Pull Request to submit the completed application documents. Once submitted, the Proton Alliance will review the application and decide whether to create a DAO Dash proposal. In the case of Recognition or Special Company Grants, the Alliance may approve the application internally.
Milestone Process
Once funding is approved, project milestones are reported to the community via GitHub and the Proton Alliance monitors progress. Timely milestone delivery is critical as delayed progress may result in payment of future milestones being delayed.
Payment
Payments are made in XPR (Proton’s native cryptocurrency) after milestones are signed by the Proton Alliance and after three alliance members approve the proposal multi-signature (msig). For first-time grant applicants, payments are made on a milestone basis.
Funding assessment members and operators
Proton Alliance members and Metallicus (core developers) evaluate grant applications, while grant operator Paul Grey oversees the entire process.
Through this program, the Proton Blockchain Development Fund aims to support projects that bring value to the community and promote growth and innovation in the Proton ecosystem. By streamlining the application process and providing tailored grants to individuals, teams, and companies, the program aims to empower developers and entrepreneurs to build projects on the Proton blockchain and contribute to the growth of the entire ecosystem. This will not only strengthen the Proton community, but will also ensure a prosperous and innovative future for blockchain.
