i keep thinking if i moved native DUSK from Dusk L1 into DuskEVM through the DuskEVM Bridge, then bringing it back should basically be that same move pointed the other way.

same DUSK. same bridge. what exactly changed.

so when i start the withdrawal from DuskEVM, my brain immediately reads that balance like its already halfway home.

except apparently “leaving DuskEVM” is not the same thing as “back on Dusk L1”.

and yeah that feels annoyingly backwards.

because the withdrawal can already exist on the DuskEVM side. that DUSK isnt just sitting there like a normal DuskEVM balance anymore, but Dusk L1 still hasnt accepted that withdrawal as DUSK returned on its side.

which is where the proof starts mattering.

not because the DUSK somehow became different money on the way back.

but because that DuskEVM withdrawal still needs a proof the Dusk L1 side can use before the return is finalized there.

so wait. i can already be done with the DuskEVM part and still not actually have the native DUSK back where i started?

apparently yes.

i kept treating the DuskEVM Bridge like one doorway with two equal directions, when the return can sit in this weird middle where the withdrawal already exists on DuskEVM but Dusk L1 still hasnt finished accepting what that proof says happened.

i think thats where i was calling the withdrawal “coming back” way too early.

the DUSK can already be leaving DuskEVM while Dusk L1 still hasnt accepted the return as finished.

somehow i kept treating those as the same moment.
