I’m increasingly realizing that what’s truly hard about RWA isn’t “putting it on-chain,” but ensuring you don’t simply copy the old system over in its entirety.

Recently I revisited @Dusk and noticed a detail I had previously overlooked: many RWA projects focus on the step of turning assets into Tokens, but the real trouble starts after the Token exists.

After a fund is created and a bond issuance is made, it’s about how investors enter, who is eligible to hold, who they can transfer to, when settlement is completed, and which information needs to be disclosed. Those are the day-to-day realities of how financial assets are handled. If these processes still rely on off-chain spreadsheets, manual reviews, and repeated reconciliation between different systems, then tokenization may simply be a new blockchain “wrapping” for the old financial system.

What interests me about Dusk’s approach is that it tries to put these processes into a single base infrastructure. In its official architecture, DuskDS handles consensus, finality, data availability, and settlement; DuskVM can directly run Rust/WASM contracts; and DuskEVM provides an EVM execution environment. The point isn’t to add more modules, but to reduce the gaps between asset rules, execution, and final settlement.

Even more worth looking at is the XSC and Zedger roadmap. In Dusk’s early design, Zedger was already built around securities-type assets, considering account capabilities, transfer restrictions, voting, dividends, and compliant settlement. In other words, the asset’s lifecycle itself becomes an object the protocol must handle, rather than issuing a Token and then pushing all the rules off-chain.

This helped me rethink $DUSK : what’s really worth watching isn’t just privacy or EVM compatibility—it’s whether it can connect issuance, eligibility, transfer, privacy, and settlement into a single complete workflow.

Of course, whether the architecture holds up ultimately must be proven by real assets and real institutions. For me, that’s exactly the most interesting part to watch after Dusk—whether, after bringing financial assets on-chain, it can truly eliminate the redundant steps that previously required intermediaries. #dusk
