Japan is preparing a large-scale technological reform of its stock market. According to Nikkei, the country’s government, together with the Bank of Japan, the Financial Services Agency (FSA), and key banking institutions, is setting up a special task force to develop next-generation payments.
The main goal of the project is to move settlement of equities and government bonds (JGB) to blockchain, enabling trades to be executed instantly and around the clock (24/7).
