Crypto | Momentum Explosion | August 26
The broad market is down 2%, but the altcoins are collectively going crazy? I’ve seen this kind of divergence a few times.
Today I glanced at the 7-day momentum leaderboard, and the first look made me go, “oh.”
BTC, ETH, SOL, and BNB are all pulling back 2–4%. In the past scripts, the altcoins should have been bleeding. But look: $BANK 7 up +108%, $KAITO +50%, $STAR +46%—and in the next tier, the top names are still pushing higher.
This structure of “big coins drift lower while altcoins celebrate,” even old pros and blue-chips know—this isn’t sector rotation; it’s money huddling around a few story-driven picks.
My take: at the BTC level of around 79k, it’s neither up nor down—mainstream coins have no alpha, so the money is piling into small caps. But something like AKE with 7-day +561%—here’s my verdict: that’s not acceleration anymore; it’s the last shuttle running to the top. Anyone catching the bag, please come prepared with your fast-acting heart medicine.
As for $BANK and $KAITO with gains in the 50%–100% range, relatively speaking they look healthier. A pullback to the 5-day line could be worth considering for a low buy.
Which one have you been chasing lately? Or are you already in cash, watching the show?
