$ETH
The next genuinely underestimated risk for Ethereum isn’t in the narrative, but whether the code can withstand Glamsterdam’s gas re-pricing. In the Ethereum Foundation’s test notes from August 24, EIP-8037 and EIP-8038 will re-adjust the costs of state creation and state access.
The value-capture pathway here is realistic: if gas moves closer to actual computational costs, developers get a more predictable execution environment, and nodes and infrastructure can more easily plan resources based on real load. But in the short term, don’t rush to equate “upgrade” with the $ETH rally. In official mainnet transaction replays, only a small number of contracts faced compatibility pressure; most contracts weren’t affected. For the issues that were named, the most common fix is simply raising the gas limit.
So over the next 15 days, I’m more focused on whether clients, wallets, indexers, and gas estimators have updates—not just watching social media “trade calls.” $ETH If it can repeatedly be absorbed around the $2,400 area, and paired with updates to development tooling, then there’s a repair foundation. If it breaks below the recent low and ecosystem data doesn’t catch up, the upgrade expectations may first turn into something being priced in. Will you look first at on-chain usage, or first at compatibility in developer tools?
