$BTC Amazing! A 34 million USD long position got liquidated with just a 2.5% move — this whale lost its shorts too.

Bitcoin just touched $81,240, then immediately dropped back to $79,181. One whale completely went off the rails — yesterday its short position was 2% away from liquidation, so it cut losses and closed at a loss of $810,000; ten minutes later it flipped long with $34.59 million, average entry $80,761. And the result? It's now sitting on an unrealized loss of $677,000, and combined with the earlier loss it's down $1.487 million — more than the $1.277 million equity left in the account! Liquidation price is $77,163, only 2.5% away from the current price, and there’s still no stop-loss order.

My take: this isn’t buying the dip, this is gambling with your life. The shorts just got blown out and it immediately chased longs — a classic loss-averaging syndrome. After Bitcoin rose 23% for the week, sentiment is already extremely greedy, and with PCE data coming out tonight, this whale could very well become the next name in the $621 million liquidation wave.

What should retail traders do: don’t copy this kind of dumb move. Hold spot and don’t mess around; for futures, wait for a pullback to 77,800-78,300 with lower volume before considering entries. Don’t chase high leverage above 80k. Remember: if even a whale can’t handle this volatility, you definitely can’t.
