In the whitepaper, time passes quietly and peacefully, while on-chain data is a total mess.
Just look at Dusk Network’s Schrödinger-style data fabrication.
I thought the Dusk project team was actually getting things done—then I opened a block explorer and my smile gradually froze.
When I checked DeFiLlama, I even wanted to greet his family. On-chain data shows that the TVL on DeFiLlama is completely blank—cleaner than my wallet.
Daily transaction volume is only six figures. The market cap figures on different platforms jump back and forth from $27 million to $56 million, as if DUSK’s price isn’t set by market trading, but determined by rolling dice.
The two “ace cards” Dusk claims: Phoenix handles transaction privacy, using the UTXO model with zero-knowledge proofs—“transaction validity can be verified, but sensitive information won’t leak.” Moonlight handles the public transaction layer, switching between private and public with “one click.” The architecture is so elegant, the vision so grand—you could use it as a cover for a blockchain textbook.
After Dusk announced a €300 million NPEX partnership, the community erupted with cheers. But when someone checked on-chain data, they found a huge gap between the numbers announced and what was actually delivered. €300 million? Not even a fraction of that shows up in on-chain transaction volume. This isn’t a partnership at all—it’s a “Schrödinger partnership,” both existing and not existing, depending on whether you’re asking from the press release or the block explorer.
And there’s more. In April 2026, the OtterSec team found a “soundness vulnerability” in the zero-knowledge proof implementation of dusk-plonk. The verifier was never verifying the four polynomial commitments provided by the prover. The hacker could mint any number of DUSK tokens out of thin air and forge already-confirmed shielded transactions. The whitepaper keeps saying “privacy protection,” but the entire ~$60 million market cap protected by the privacy layer rests entirely on a proof that has never been verified.
The whitepaper is an ideal. On-chain is reality. The ideal is rich and full; reality is harsh and unyielding. And Dusk’s data is probably in a superposition of ideal and reality—you see one thing when you observe it, and another thing when you don’t.
