I've been watching Dusk for a while, and the part I keep coming back to isn't the privacy story. It's what $DUSK is becoming as the network itself gets more modular.
Dusk now reports 210M+ DUSK staked, roughly a fifth of its 1B maximum supply.
The model is deliberately front-loaded: 500M tokens started the system, another 500M are emitted over 36 years, with emissions halving every four years. That means the network can't rely on inflation forever; over time, transaction activity has to matter more to the security model.
Then there's Hyperstaking. Introduced in March 2025, it lets smart contracts manage staking, rewards, pools and delegated models. Dusk said it already had 270+ active node operators at launch. That's more interesting to me than a raw staking number because it changes who can actually participate.
Dusk also moved toward a modular architecture, separating settlement/data availability from execution. Its June 2025 design placed DuskDS underneath DuskEVM and the planned privacy layer, while current docs describe DuskDS alongside native DuskVM and DuskEVM. Across these environments, DUSK remains tied to staking, settlement and gas.
What I still can't answer from the public data I've reviewed is the important part: who controls that 210M? How concentrated is active stake? Is participation broadening, and is real execution activity growing with it?
A big number can look healthy from a distance. I want to see what happens underneath it.
