Knowing the Bull and Bear Market (认识牛市与熊市)

How is the market today? In the crypto world, the main trends are defined through two very powerful animals:

Vocabulary list:

Bull market niúshì Bull market (Bull market)

Bear market xióngshì Bear market (Bear market)

Rising shàngzhǎng Rise Increase

Downfall xiàdiē Down Fall

1. Bull market (niúshì) — Bull Market

When prices rise strongly and optimism floods the market. The metaphor comes from the bull (牛) attacking by moving its horns from bottom to top.

  • Pinyin: niúshì

2. Bear market (xióngshì) — Bear Market

When prices keep falling and panic or apathy reigns. It comes from the bear (熊) attacking with its claws from top to bottom.

  • Pinyin: xióngshì

🗣️ Pronunciation Guide for Spanish Speakers

牛市 (niúshì): Pronounce it almost like "niú-shì".

The tone of niú rises like when you ask a question in Spanish (¿Qué?).

The tone of shì is short and sharp, downward, like when you say a firm "No!".

Bear market (xióngshì): Pronounce it like "xióng-shì".

The "x" sounds soft, similar to the "sh" in English.

The tone of xióng also goes upward, imitating the curve of a bull market, but ironically it means bear!

🧠 Memory Trick (Mnemonic)

牛 (niú) sounds very similar to "New" in English.

Imagine that in the Bull Market, there are always "New ATH" (New all-time highs).

熊 (xióng) sounds a bit like "Shon".

Imagine a bear sleeping in the Bear Market because everything is "Shutdown" (turned off).
