[Many people think this SOL move is retail traders pushing it—wrong. Institutions are already in.]
On Monday, the net inflow for the day was $33.5 million, setting a historical record. Total net inflows reached $1.22 billion, with trading volume of 167 million.
I’m not saying this so you go “chase”—I’m saying it so you see one thing clearly: the driving force behind this rally isn’t the one your friends are shilling from their group chats. It’s real money being bought.
BTC broke $80,000, the sentiment index is 74, and SOL is up 27% over the past week. Following the old veteran traders’ playbook, this is when you should start being cautious—prices rising too fast, sentiment getting too hot. Even though the valuation is still down 67% from the highs, the short-term momentum has indeed gotten a bit overheated.
But what I really want to talk about isn’t that.
It’s the vote Solana just held.
Three proposals, two of them directly targeting the supply side: supercharging the rate at which inflation declines, and raising the daily burn from 650 SOL to 9,000 SOL.
Let’s run a simple number: currently, inflation adds roughly 1,600 SOL per day, and 650 SOL is burned. That means the actual net increase is nearly 1,000 SOL. If the proposal passes and daily burning becomes 9,000 SOL, then the net daily change would be a decrease of more than 7,000 SOL.
This isn’t fine-tuning—it directly changes the supply-and-demand structure.
But here’s the catch—
This proposal is friendly to holders, but it may not be so friendly to validators. Reducing inflation also reduces validators’ earnings. Validators are the voters—will they sacrifice short-term income for the long-term benefit of the ecosystem? I’ve seen this kind of trade-off countless times back in 2021. In the end, it often turns into frantic action like a tiger, only for execution to end up at one-third or one-fifth.
Does the business logic hold? Yes. Can it be implemented? Not sure.
So what’s your mindset right now? Are you still going to chase this move? Or, even though you’re itching to jump in, this time—are you really not doing it?
