USDC’s trading volume share overtakes USDT for the first time. At the same time, the funds in the longtime whale account “pension-usdt.eth” were almost entirely emptied.

This doesn’t look like a coincidence. Bernstein has just defined stablecoins as the “new growth cycle,” yet USDT is still surging on TRON—Justin Sun shared the numbers: over the past 30 days, the TRON network added 11 billion USDT, the #1 figure across the entire network. Meanwhile, the official TRON community has continued to emphasize that its stablecoin average daily transfer volume keeps setting new highs.

However, the shift in trading volume share is not at odds with new issuance. On one side, USDC is steadily taking ground in the trading market; on the other, USDT is being accepted in payment scenarios by products like Aconomy. The whale’s balance going to zero can be explained as individual reallocation—but once coordinated action takes shape, the market-cap rankings can loosen accordingly.

The question is: when trading volume leadership changes hands, how many quarters can USDT’s “stablecoin king” title hold up?
